The Bridge Centre is a Pupil Referral Unit, serving the Lichfield and Burntwood Districts in Staffordshire. It is situated in the heart of the cathedral city of Lichfield and is housed in excellent accommodation surrounded by extensive grounds, housing a small farm, raised beds, student art work and a pond, aiding the therapeutic side of what Bridge seeks to offer.
Students are referred either as a direct result of permanent exclusion from school, as a preventative measure, with medical advice, or having recently moved into the area from a similar setting. The aim at Key Stage 3 is to reintegrate students wherever possible into another mainstream setting. In Key Stage 4 it is more likely that students will remain with us until the end of their formal education.
Students have the opportunity to complete up to 9 GCSE's dependent upon their ability. Bridge offers a broad and balanced curriculum both academic and vocational in order to meet the needs of all.
The School Council actively seeks the opinions of all students at Bridge and members meet regularly with the Senior Leadership Team to share the views collected.
Bridge works with the community to strengthen links including The Garrick Theatre and the adjoining care home as it is felt important for members of the community to recognise our students as belonging to their District.
Our purpose at Bridge is to ensure the wellbeing of both students and staff is paramount and all work tirelessly in order to achieve this aim.
