Welcome to PE
Children at Bridge are strongly encouraged to participate in a wide range of practical physical education, together with a well devised theory section where pupils covering numerous topics which include; the human body, how it works, the functions, muscles, bones and joints. This also includes nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle and maintaining a balanced diet. The pupils learn through a variety of mediums including written auditory, demonstration, participation and visual media in order to broaden their understanding and knowledge.
PE is currently delivered by Mr Steve Gabbitas and Mr James Nation.
At Bridge we also benefit from having a fitness gym on site where the pupils can use a range of equipment such as the punch bag for boxing sessions, weights, pull-up multi gym bars, and the TRX multifunction resistance system, helping pupils with core conditioning and strengthening work. We have also very recently seen the completed installation of a brand new outdoor multi use games area.
Sport is a brilliant natural stress relief and the students suffering from difficult situations at home or school are encouraged to use the gym to let off some steam and anger and put their mind to something practical. Pupils are taken to a local Astro turf for football skills. Also we participate in a programme run by Beyond Blackbelt in Burton, a mix of martial arts and boxing encouraging discipline and control. In addition ice skating, bowling and rock climbing trips are organized to expand their confidence and range of participation in physical activities.
